Yet that is the challenge before us as children are being raised increasingly in organised facilities outside the home. The nature and design of these settings can no longer be happenstance. Rather, this is a societal issue requiring immediate attention. Child care centres are a new building type in search of models that not only provide for children's basic needs but also honour them as the miracles they are by nurturing their spirits during their most formative and vulnerable period of their lives."
